Bowel cancer
Over the past 40 years there's been dramatic progress in tackling bowel cancer and almost 6 in 10 people diagnosed will now survive their disease for 10 years or more.
Breast cancer
With around 150 women diagnosed every day, breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK.
Developing better treatments
Cancer Research UK supports more than 250 clinical trials across the UK, and its groundbreaking research has saved the lives of many thousands of people in the UK and all over the world.
Leukaemia
Five-year survival for leukaemia has quadrupled in the last 40 years. But despite this progress, around 4,600 people still lose their lives to the disease every year.
Lymphoma
Survival for many types of lymphoma has increased significantly – now, three times as many people survive non-Hodgkin lymphoma as in the 1970s.
Ovarian cancer
Ovarian cancer is the sixth most common cancer in UK women, with around 140 women being diagnosed every week.

Lung cancer
Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer death in the UK. Each year around 46,400 people are diagnosed with lung cancer in the UK, and the disease claims around 35,900 lives.
