The AA, founded in 1905 is a well-established and trusted British motoring association.  At the end of 2023, AA colleagues voted for Cancer Research UK as their Charity Partner of the year. Together we hope to raise important funds to support our work saving lives through research. From baking to biking, running, walking and more, together our contributions will add up to significant support for CRUK.

In 2022 we launched a new partnership with AIG UK Ltd, who provide a range of insurance products and services to clients in business and life. AIG will be providing health information to their customers which specifically focuses on ways to lower the risk of getting cancer through lifestyle choices. They will also be signposting their customers to Cancer Research UK’s nurses helpline.

Amey

We’ve been Amey’s employee chosen charity since 2020, with many employees volunteering their time, donating their pre-loved goods and finding fun and innovative ways to fundraise for our life-saving work. To date, they’ve raised over £350k. Amey also take part in our Cancer Awareness in the Workplace programme which supports employees to reduce their risk of cancer and take positive action for their health.

B&M

In 2023, we launched our partnership with one of the UK's leading discount retailers, B&M. We recently delivered our first CRM activity where they will be donating 5p to Cancer Research UK from each product sold in their newly launched exclusive beauty range.

Bellway Homes

Since it launched in 2016, our award-winning partnership with Bellway Homes has raised £3m. This is thanks to record levels of employee fundraising across around 300 Bellway Homes sites and offices, supported by a dedicated team of 30 charity coordinators.  

Cards Direct

Launched in Autumn 2023, our partnership with Cards Direct aims to raise £100k over two years for life-saving cancer research. Cards Direct colleagues and customers can take part in activities in stores across the country including cash donations, fundraising initiatives, volunteering, and through the sale of selected products.

Channel 4

Stand Up To Cancer is our joint national fundraising campaign with Channel 4 that brings the UK together to speed up progress in life-saving cancer research. Supported by the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) in the US and launched in the UK in 2012, Stand Up To Cancer funds translational research, turning academic breakthroughs in the labs into new treatments that could make a real difference for people with cancer. More than £62 million has been raised in the UK to date, funding 55 clinical trials and projects, and involving around 11,000 cancer patients across the country.

Every year, Channel 4 staff take on their own fundraising challenges and have so far raised over £250,000 for the campaign. A popular fundraiser is the highly competitive Seed Fundraising Challenge where different Channel 4 teams are given a small amount of money and challenged to see which team can transform it into the largest amount of money. The broadcaster was also one of our first corporate partners to take on the ‘Sprintathon’ where participants run a marathon in individual 100m sprints.

Citi's London office staff voted for Cancer Research UK to be their Charity of the Year partner from 2023 to 2025. They plan to donate at least £350,000 over the two year period though a variety of fundraising activities and will be funding a research project called SampleCam which is a new diagnostic tool to detect colorectal cancer earlier and more efficiently.   

Coinstar

Since our partnership with Coinstar launched 19 years ago, the company has raised over £1m from the fantastic customers who choose to donate their loose change to Cancer Research UK when they use Coinstar machines nationwide.

Coinstar - a world leader in self-service coin counting operates a network of nearly 2,000 machines located in supermarkets across the UK. Customers can take their unsorted change to the machine where it is counted and converted into a voucher that can be exchanged for cash or used towards shopping. And thanks to Coinstar’s ‘Coins that Count Programme’, consumers can choose to donate their coins directly to charity, resulting in £1.1 million already raised for Cancer Research UK.

Co-op Legal Services

Co-op Legal Services

Since 2017, Co-op Legal Services have supported our work by donating funds from sales of their special packages, including wills and lasting power of attorney – as well as through the generous donations of their customers. The partnership has now raised over £350,000 towards life-saving research.

Edwardian Hotels London

Edwardian Hotels London

In partnership since 2015, Edwardian Hotels London have pledged to raise a total of £2m towards research at the Francis Crick Institute in London. Their fundraising activities have included exclusive events, customer donations and a whole host of employee challenges, such as climbing Snowdon by night.

Emma Bridgewater

Emma Bridgewater

Emma Bridgewater have designed a Purple Toast Bowelbabe Fund ½ pint mug, donating £5 per mug to the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK. Featuring Dame Deborah James’s inspirational words, the mug was released in February 2024 and sold out within 5 days. Our partnership will continue to raise funds for the Bowelbabe Fund as well as raise awareness of signs and symptoms of bowel cancer.

We’ve been in partnership with Funky Pigeon since 2017. During that time, their customers have generously raised over £260,000 for our life-saving research by donating at checkout when they purchase a card or a gift. In April 2021, Funky Pigeon also launched a card and gift range that will support Cancer Research UK, with sales of the card range specifically supporting translational research through Cancer Research UK's Stand Up to Cancer campaign. 

Harkness Roses

The Harkness Rose company

The Harkness Rose company created the Dame Deborah James rose in 2022 with £2.50 from the sale of each rose going to the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK. The partnership so far has raised over £40,000 for the Fund.

In the Style

In The Style have been partnered with the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK since May 2022. The ‘Rebellious Hope’ t-shirt, inspired by Dame Deborah James’s words, as well as a wider Dame Deborah James clothing collection has raised over £1.8m for the Fund. In The Style also released a Rebellious Hope Christmas Jumper in 2022 and continue to be huge supporters of the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK.

Live Nation UK | Ticketmaster | Festival Republic

Live Nation - Ticketmaster - Festival Republic

Live Nation UK has supported Cancer Research UK since 2008. Part of the Live Nation family, Ticketmaster UK and Festival Republic have each held their own successful fundraising activities.

Ticketmaster UK has raised over £970,000 since 2015 by inviting customers to donate to Cancer Research UK when they purchase tickets online for selected concerts and events. During October and November, this activity supports our Stand Up To Cancer campaign with staff in the London and Manchester offices having previously taken part in some epic fundraising challenges. In 2019 and 2020, Ticketmaster organised an international collaboration for World Cancer Day, uniting their offices around the globe to raise money through staff fundraising and customer donations.

Since 2014, Festival Republic has asked festival-goers at Wireless and Download to donate to Cancer Research UK in order to receive access to exclusive guest areas. This has raised almost £760,000. It has also supported Cancer Research UK’s Own Your Tone campaign by playing our sun safety content on the big screens at selected festivals.

NatWest Group

Through ATM donations, payroll giving and donations via their MyReward scheme, longstanding partner NatWest Group has generated over £7m towards our life-saving work since 2002. NatWest Group also champions the global Giving Tuesday campaign where they encourage employees and customers to sign up to payroll giving and donate their MyRewards points to charity. We are delighted to have them as a partner and thank them for their continued support.

NIVEA SUN

Our partnership with NIVEA SUN launched in 2012 to raise vital funds for skin cancer research. Since then, we’ve helped millions of people stay safe in the sun with our annual campaign featuring easy-to-remember steps to enjoy the sun safely: 1. Seek shade 2. Cover up 3. Apply sunscreen.

Since launching in the UK in 2020, Omaze has raised millions of pounds for charities across the UK through their Million Pound House Prize Draw. Omaze raised £500,000 for Cancer Research UK in 2021 for life saving research. In 2024 Omaze are supporting the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK to help advance bowel cancer treatment and transform survival through cutting-edge research projects. 

Penguin Random House

Penguin Random House

Penguin Random House have donated £3 from the sale of ‘How To Live When You Could Be Dead’ to the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK since it’s publication in 2022. Written by Dame Deborah James in the lead up to her death, the book focuses on how she flipped her diagnosis into ‘realistic and rebellious hope’. The book has raised over £200k for the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK so far.

Our partnership with the UK financial technology company launched to celebrate World Cancer Day 2020.

In September 2022, we celebrated the launch of an exciting new long-term partnership with Rhenus Logistics, a leading logistics service provider with 37,500 employees across 970 locations globally and an annual turnover of 7 billion Euros. The family-owned global logistics company pledges a donation for every kg that is shipped through the Life Sciences & Healthcare facility at Heathrow Airport. Furthermore, employees of Rhenus in the UK will be finding fun and innovative ways to fundraise for our life-saving work, and we will be delivering our Cancer Awareness in the workplace programme across the company.

Our partnership with Roadchef began in 2018 and 6 years on we are delighted that together their employees and customers have raised a staggering £5m for our life saving work. From walking challenges and golf days, to bake sales, sponsored silences, and silent disco’s, Roadchef teams have tried it all. We are thrilled to have them as a partner as together we are beating cancer.

Royal London

In December 2022, Royal London made a generous donation to medical research to help prevent families from cancer life shocks. Royal London is the UK’s largest mutual life, pensions and investment company, providing a range of pension and protection products to customers and employers, primarily through independent financial advisers. Royal London are a purpose-driven mutual: ‘Protecting today, investing in tomorrow. Together we are mutually responsible’. This defines the impact they want to have for their customers and for society. From January 2023, our partnership will focus on prevention and long-term research into the causes of cancer. In addition to donations from Royal London’s Social Impact Budget, their 4,000 employees will be fundraising and volunteering to support our partnership.

As the official running retailer of Race For Life they are encouraging everyone of all abilities to get outdoors, get active and have fun with their friends and love ones, as well as sharing their expertise and top tips with participants.

Our partnership with renewable energy company ScottishPower started in 2012 with the bold ambition of raising £5m over 3 years.  Fast forward more than a decade later, and our partnership is stronger than ever with £40m raised.   This incredible amount is thanks to various initiatives including employee and supplier fundraising, sponsorship of Race for Life events across the UK and Stand Up To Cancer campaigns, as well as their Help Beat Cancer energy tariff where ScottishPower make a donation for every month a customer remains on the tariff.

Scrap Car Comparison

Scrap Car Comparison have supported Cancer Research UK since 2020. Scrap Car Comparison’s Donate A Car scheme allows you to get rid of your old, damaged or unwanted vehicle and give all, or just some, of the profit to Cancer Research UK, as one of their chosen charity partners. These donations will help fund life-saving cancer research.

Since our partnership began in 2013, Slimming World has raised over £20m. This is through campaigns such as the Big Slimming World Clothes Throw, Walk All Over Cancer and the London Marathon. Slimming World have also sponsored our Race for Life event series since 2023 and are on a mission to help people lead healthier, happier, more active lives. As well as raising vital funds, the partnership also supports our shared goal to raise awareness of the links between obesity and cancer.

Standard Life

In January 2023, Standard Life became our new headline sponsor of Race for Life. Standard Life is part of Phoenix Group, the UK’s largest long-term savings and retirement business. Standard Life is a brand that has been trusted to look after peoples’ life savings for nearly 200 years.  

Today it proudly serves millions of customers who come to Standard Life directly, through advisers and through their employers’ pension scheme. The sponsorship, which will initially span three years, will include a major TV and radio activation programme as well as a presence at 160 Race for Life events. More than 10m people have taken part in a Race for Life event since they began in 1994, collectively raising nearly £1bn. The sponsorship will cover both the 30th year of Race for Life as well as Standard Life’s 200th anniversary and the activity will go towards helping Race for Life in their bid to raise money for research into all 200 types of cancer.

From 2001 to 2022 Tesco were the proud headline sponsor of Race for Life. In 2018 we built on that partnership, launching a ground-breaking partnership between Tesco, Cancer Research UK, Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation. The aim is to work together to help support promoting healthier lifestyles – making the healthier choice the easier choice. In July 2022, the partnership announced the launch of the 'Let's Talk' pharmacy training programme. Specialist trainings were delivered to Tesco pharmacists and pharmacy colleagues to support their conversations with the public. Shoppers can now pop in and talk to one of the team wearing a ‘Let’s Talk’ badge. Tesco also promotes customer fundraising through rounding up shopping to the nearest £1 at self-service tills and through Clubcard donation initiatives.

TK Maxx

TK Maxx

Since 2004, TK Maxx customers and associates have raised over £44m for Cancer Research UK. Of that total, £40m has helped support research into children’s and young people’s cancers.  

The retailer raises money through customer donations, associate fundraising and sales of selected products in addition to the Give Up Clothes For Good campaign, the UK’s longest-running clothing collection campaign. TK Maxx also sponsor the Cancer Research UK for Children & Young People Star Awards scheme, which recognises the courage and bravery of children and young people facing cancer.   

Virgin Red

This year we are excited to partner with the newly launched Virgin Red - a customer rewards platform and app across all the Virgin brands. Virgin Red has partnered with 10 charities, offering customers the option of converting their loyalty points to donations for charity.

Since the start of our partnership with Warburtons in early 2015, the company has contributed over £3m through employee fundraising and donations from the Warburton family. We were delighted that Warburtons agreed to extend the partnership to Autumn 2026. And in 2019, the Warburtons Charity Champion team received a Special Commendation for ‘Corporate Fundraising Team of the Year’ at our Flame of Hope awards.
